June 22, 2023 – Gideon Taylor announced today that he will be stepping down from the position of Executive Vice President and CEO of the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York (JCRC-NY). As the needs of Holocaust survivors increase, Gideon will be taking on a leading role at the World Jewish Restitution Organization and, in addition, will be working to enhance survivor social welfare internationally and Holocaust education worldwide.

Gideon will leave his position as of August 30, 2023 and will serve as a consultant to JCRC-NY until a successor is selected. JCRC-NY Chief Operating Officer Noam Gilboord has been appointed to lead the agency in the interim period.

As CEO, Gideon led JCRC-NY out of the pandemic back to its central role in the field of community relations in New York. Under his leadership, JCRC-NY’s programs have grown in scope and reach. His efforts focused on building and strengthening relationships with young and emerging leaders in New York City. During his tenure, JCRC-NY saw an expansion of critical study tours to Israel for elected officials from local and state government, as well as diverse community leaders and campus administrators, with four study tours this past year and six planned in the year ahead.

Following its cancellation during the COVID-19 pandemic, Gideon led the Celebrate Israel Parade back to Fifth Avenue. This year, amidst a very challenging environment, he drew together a massive attendance including Jews from across the political and religious spectrum.

Gideon served as a bridge between various segments of the Jewish community as he helped the organization navigate through a number of complicated and divisive issues while recognizing and including the breadth of Jewish life and thought in New York. He maintained JCRC-NY’s critical role as an organization dedicated to the concept of “klal yisrael” – Jewish peoplehood.

During his tenure Gideon enabled a new generation of community relations professionals to rise as the organization evolved to meet new challenges. He secured significant additional resources for JCRC-NY, notably for the Celebrate Israel Parade and the Spring Gala. He also negotiated and organized the move of the organization to its new offices.

We are grateful to Gideon Taylor for his years of dedication to JCRC-NY as both a board member and later as Executive Vice President and CEO.

“It has been a profound honor to serve as Executive Vice President and CEO of JCRC-NY.  I have had the opportunity to work with remarkable partners, a truly outstanding staff, and a dedicated and committed lay leadership,” said Gideon Taylor. “Community relations is a critical priority for our city.  JCRC-NY’s work within the Jewish community and in partnership with our diverse neighbors with whom we share this wonderful city is central to who we are and who we will be in the future.  I am tremendously proud of what we have been able to accomplish together. I look forward to my next challenge ahead and I hope to work together with many of you in the future.”
