We mourn the passing of Thomas A. Blumberg, z”l, our esteemed and beloved JCRC-NY Honorary Director and Board Member for decades and long-time Jewish communal leader.

Tom was engaged, caring and generous throughout his 25 years of service to JCRC-NY. Tom deeply believed in JCRC-NY and its mission. Whether as an officer, board member, executive committee member, co-chair of the Center for Shared Society or serving as an advisor, mentor and guide to seasoned and younger staff, Tom shared his knowledge and expertise.

For his dedication to the next generation, Tom and his son, Ben, received our Generation to Generation Award in 2018.  His commitment to nurturing future leaders led to the establishment of the Blumberg Family Young Leadership Award in 2022 and the Blumberg Fellowship for Jewish Community Relations in 2023 — an enduring legacy of his passion for mentorship.

May Tom’s children, Betsy, Karen and Ben, and their families be consoled among those who mourn for Zion and Yerushalayim.
